Oh my body gets so excited when I just think about it! Last January, one of my dreams came true. I went to South Africa! I had wanted to go there all my life and now I had the chance to create that through and Access class. I had no idea what to expect really, just that I had always wanted to go. What I received from this choice was truly incredible!
South Africa offers this sweet, caring, kind land that nurtures your entire being. We stayed in an amazing resort which is situated next to a reserve with a gorgeous mountain range and these incredible animals roaming the land. They also have a world class golf course if that’s your thing :) lol Really, TOP NOTCH! And it has a 19th hole that you require a helicopter to get to. Yup! I wasn’t kidding when I said top notch!
Anyways, before I got to the report, I had pre-booked a 3-hour safari ride for two mornings. I arrived a day early for class and after that first safari, I practically ran to the sign up desk and booked every single morning! That was one of the most incredible choices! What I received from those safaris was beyond words. And they are ridiculously priced! They worked out to less than $40 USD last year. A crazy price for something priceless!
I remember one of the mornings, we drove around for an hour or two and didn’t see very many animals. I became aware that I was thinking I should be disappointed, but instead I looked at my surroundings and just drank in the nurturing energy of the land itself with the mountains, trees, vast landscape and pure sweet space… That was enough… there was nothing missing in my world at that moment.
We did of course see lots of animals on that trip. Funny how that happens when you make a different choice! And we got so close to so many of them. That was majestic! Our truck was maybe 10-12 feet from a male lion who had just made a kill and was protecting it. I was engulfed in the sheer power of killing energy the lion is. There was no doubt that “I can kill you in a second” was what the lion knew. There was no threat in it, it just was. He was saturated of course from his kill, but you could not be unaware for even a split second and you knew it!
It makes me laugh now cause we were one of 3 trucks there. I was so aware of an energy of extreme concern coming from somewhere at one point, and it was so clear it was not mine. The energy of the lion penetrated every molecule of the space between my molecules and I was totally aware of all of him. Then our truck started leaving and being in the last row, I had this gorgeous opportunity at this incredible picture of the lion.
As we turned, I dropped my elbow over the back of the vehicle. I was so totally aware of the lion and that he was keeping an eye on me, but he was happy and content with a full belly. Make no mistake, he could get up in a flash and leap over, just as he had done only moments before with a daring Jackal who got too close. Just because he looked like he was relaxing… only a fool would make that mistake… once. They say to keep your limbs inside the vehicle, and that’s especially true when you’re super close to an animal. And I was so aware of the lion and his allowance that I could do what I did. And he gifted me with the most incredible picture. And an experience I will never forget.
On one of the afternoon rides that I jumped on last minute, we finally caught up with the two brothers. They were Cheetas and they had made a kill the night before we saw them. We found them grooming each other just beside the road we were driving on. When we stopped only 5 or 6 feet from them, they didn’t move, but turned their heads towards us. Their energy was playful and easy. Full of joy and fun. They saw no threat in us and continued to groom and wrestle with eachother. I was gifted with this playful, carefree energy they were being, while totally aware of their surroundings and everything in it. It was such an amazing space to be shown by them. That I could be vulnerable and playful and still be aware of all the little nuances miles away! Wow! Just wow! I’ll never lose that knowing.
Another one of my favourite moments that I will never forget is when we came upon a heard of elephants gazing and moving slowly forward. We stopped a ways out and watched them graze. Slowly they came grazing towards us. And as they got closer, we were right in the path of a couple of them. “Just sit still and be calm” our guide said. Ofcourse, we knew exactly how to expand beyond any limitations. As we were that space, we watched several elephants graze just feet away from us and move around the truck. One elephant was so close to the side of our vehicle, and then finally noticed we were in her way and didn’t look like most of the other things in her path. We were being an awesome spacious energy! She choose to go in front of our vehicle and as she walked in front, she got curious. She took her trunk and sniffed around the front seat, then past the front seat to the second row of seats. Her trunk fully extended into the truck, I watched the little end change shape and move around as she sniffed the air and checked us out. I’m not sure if we smelled bad or good or just non-threatening, but she was satisfied with the information she gathered and then retreated her trunk and slowly moved on past our truck to graze some more. I will never forget the sheer vast space that these elephants be. There is no threat in their universe. There is only space and being. And yet, in the middle of that space, you know that if they felt threatened, they could squash you in a second. It’s really true that they would not hurt a fly, but if you happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time… I’ve always loved elephants and the gift that they gave me of the huge vast space they are willing to be no matter what, will be with me forever more.
These are just some of the incredible animals we saw and shifted some huge things for me. There were so many more from rare turtles and snakes to giraffe, zebras, wildebeests, warthogs, monkeys, alligators, ostriches, Elans, Kudu’s. Each one with their own distinctive energy and each one gifting me so much. Those gifts that they be for me, contributed to the class and all I was able to receive there. If you would like my recommendation here it is: Come to South Africa and book a safari for every morning and maybe one or two in the afternoon. Then be ready to be wow’ed! You will NEVER be the same!
